Vegetable Boxes
Raised boxes are easier to plant and maintain, provide warmer soil, provide excellent drainage and look good, too.

The garden of a dear friend.

At the age of 93, Eileen Allen still makes her way to her beloved beach cabin. Her sight is gone and her hearing is going too, but, she knows what she has and still enjoys the garden we built together in 1996. Eileen is a remarkable person, having many published professional books, she has recently written and published a personal account of her life, ‘I Like Being Old’ a wonderful read.

It’s Fawn Days

Each June, around about the 18th,
my mother’s Birthday,
an expecting doe will wander our garden,
ready to give birth to one or sometimes 2 spotted fawns.
She brings them out to show us,
thankful for the seclude safe maternity ward,
she will tuck them into odd nooks of our garden as she will leave to forage, elsewhere.
Elsewhere is not my garden,
for I spray with the very effective ‘Plant Skydd’.
Can you find Waldo in the large bed?

Another Lovely Garden Finished

My first meeting with the home owners was October 4, 2008.
The old beach house had just been demolished.
The new foundation was scheduled to be poured.
We made plans, watched the building process, and then the hard landscape work begins.
The planners and contractors recede.
A new home and garden is complete.
All’s quiet on the beach front.
